There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.
Our family is a monthly supporter of the Preemptive Love Coalition, but in the wake of the devastation and despair in Aleppo, I am asking you to consider giving - any amount - to help turn hopelessness to hope, to show those suffering they are not forgotten, to live in a way that pours Love onto a broken world. God did his greatest work through wounds, and in the wounded He still preforms his most wondrous acts of mercy.
The Preemptive Love Coalition began as an organization providing life-saving heart surgery for children. Our child has a broken heart. I cannot imagine watching her die because I could not afford her medical care, or because I did not know how to find a doctor to fix her. Her scars remind me each day that life is fragile and miraculous and unknown. PLC now also gives aid to displaced families, children in conflict zones who need education, victims of ISIS in Iraq, and those caught in the violence in Aleppo, Syria.
If you feel helpless, this is something you *can* do.
$30 provides sleeping bags for 2 people.
$250 feeds 10 families for a month.
I think of the following quotation, attributed to Franz Kafka:
As an author, I believe this both about the books I write, and those I read. But it is also true of a life transformed by Christ. Our faith should be the "ice axe" that breaks our frozen places as we're awakened by the Spirit's nudging, prodding, or - dare I say it? - hammering of us into the image of the Almighty.
If you give, please let me know; send me an email or a message through Facebook with your donation confirmation and your address, and I will send you a small gift - a signed novel, a pair of handcrafted earrings, a handmade bracelet, a bar of artisan soap, or some other surprise - as a way to say thank you for helping those on the other side of the world, made in Imago Dei.
